Our Projects
Education
Education is one of the key founding blocks of the future. At Mudita, we support education in a variety of ways.
Educational Scholarships
Mudita provides financial need-based scholarships to students from under privileged backgrounds primarily for their higher education. We have provided scholarships for students of nursing, dentistry as well as post-graduate students. One of the key features of our scholarship program has been to dedicate one donor to one student, thereby ensuring continued support to our students through out their education.Over the past few months we have expanded our education program to support the softer skills of our students to reinforce their interviewing skills, speaking skills and so on that will help them as they move into the working world. Recently, we have also introduced an “Education Fund” which will be a pooled funds of contributions made towards education that will be used towards scholarships for both school level as well as higher education students
Mudita scholars also receive training in soft-skills such as interviewing, email writing, group discussions and so on to make them ready for the job market. We have also initiated a program whereby Mudita alumni then mentor the current scholars offering them advise and counsel them on various issues that might come up in college or otherwise. We believe, peer counseling would be far more effective and relevant to these youngsters than counseling from the trustees or other volunteers.

Medical
Medical treatment is one of the biggest drains on an individual’s income and this is especially so in the case of illnesses such as cancer.
The Mudita Medical Treatment Program covers treatment cost for cancer as well as eye care for patients from low-income families who are either not covered or have exhausted their eligibility of all government schemes.
Mudita supports adults with young families as they fight cancer under our partnership with Switzerland-based Love Kare Trust. These are individuals who are usually in their 30’s & 40’s with at least 1 child below the age of 10 years old.
In 2022, we also started supporting pediatric oncology patients with funds contributed by private, individual donors. All patient reports & treatment protocol are first passed through our Onco-consultant, Dr. Shriram Inamdar. Dr. Shri consults with the patients and ensures the best suited treatment protocol is recommended for the patient – by sourcing medicines from the chemist, ensuring minimal in-patient days and so on.
Apart from supporting medical treatment for the patients, Mudita also ensures support for the family whether it be education for the children or at times even livelihood building for the spouse in case of the passing of the patient.
Mudita has partnered with Switzerland-based Love Kare Trust to provide medical treatment for patients suffering from cancer. The Mudita-LKT partnership supports all medical treatment for individuals suffering from cancer who have dependents – young children.
Mudita also extends support to patients not covered by the LKT funds through other donor channels.

Eye care surgery & support
Statistics have shown that upwards of 80% of blindness in the world is preventable and vision loss is also strongly correlated to a host of mental health issues, lack of confidence and so on amongst the elderly
Given the importance of vision as a basic measure of quality of life, Mudita has been working with ophthalmologist Dr Samita Moolani of Moolani Eye Care in Pune to carry out eye screening camps followed by appropriate treatment protocol as determined by the clinician. Patients are screened primarily for cataracts & diabetes related ailments of the eye. The doctors ensure that latest procedures are followed to ensure a fast return to daily routine for the patients.
While majority of the cases among senior citizens require cataract surgeries, doctors also screen for other age-related ailments.
Eye Care for the youth
As part of our fight against preventable blindness, Mudita organizes & supports eye camps in schools and provides spectacles and other appropriate interventions for students ensuring 20/20 vision for all.
Donation of Ambulance

The ambulance will be utilized not only in providing emergency care but also in setting up cancer screening camps in rural areas around Pune.
Love Kare Trust
Love Kare Trust was conceived by Robin Singh after he lost his wife to Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer in 2015. Two years hence, the idea of Love Kare Trust was realised and the team now 8 strong, boasts of a wide repertoire in management and organization and their unparalleled commitment to the cause.
The key focus of the foundation is to help the families of the terminal cancer patients. The purpose of the foundation is to coordinate supportive engagement with the terminal cancer patients and their families on various fronts ranging from financial, emotional to medical.
Similar to the education fund, donors may also contribute to Mudita’s “Medical pool fund” which helps patients with not covered by LKT as well as those suffering from other ailments.
Health For All

Testimonials
Annadaan
Started by a group of well-meaning women in Pune, Annadaan was started to provide dry rations to Asha Bhavan, a home for 100 mentally disturbed boys in Satara. Annadaan was taken over by Mudita after our establishment to ensure food security to those in need and has been expanded to various orphanages & homes in Pune & Satara.
The Annadaan program was expanded to migrant labour, daily wage workers and many more who suffered a loss of wages during the 2020 Covid lockdown as well as many months thereafter.
Take a look at our Covid Annadaan Initiatives
Recently the program has included single mothers into the fold, providing them with basic rations that will ensure their families have enough on their tables.
In 2022, the Annadaan program received a boost with support from 2 corporate supporters. These contributions have enabled us to reach out every month to senior citizens living without family support in slums across Pune. we now distribute rations every month to the most vulnerable seniors in the areas of Taljai/ Janata Vasahat as well as Yerwada & Patil Estate areas.
Over 3,000 senior citizens have been supported this program over the course of the year.
The monthly distribution of ration kits has been enabled by our partners SCHOOL (Society for Community Health Oriented Operational Links). The SCHOOL team has strong connections within the community across slums in Pune and help us identify the right recipients for the ration kits.
