Mudita College Scholarship

OurProgrammes-mudita-02

Imagine what we can do as a nation when we unlock the potential of over a billion people?

The Mudita College Scholarship programme was created with the strong belief in the transformative power of education to change lives and communities. The aim of our work isn’t just to distribute scholarships. Through a painstakingly careful selection process, we identify students with genuine potential and a real thirst for creating impact through the knowledge they gain.
The pure joy of watching a deserving student reach their full potential, academically and professionally, is unparalleled.
In March 2022, we supported 20 students. By March 2024, thanks to the blessings of our donors and CSR partners, that number had risen to 350, and growing ever faster. Each of our students is in a STEM field, studying in Maharashtra. We’re working on providing a holistic educational experience to each of our scholars, starting with the workshops we’ve already begun.

Scholarship Process

Document Check

After an initial check of basic documents like Aadhar card, our due diligence process includes a check on other documents such as income certificate of the family, marks sheets for last educational qualification, and a college prospectus or fee challan to determine the amount required. In case of the death of a parent, we also request for the death certificate. We pride ourselves on the ease and transparency of our process.

Interview

We also pride ourselves on our ability to pick students with incredible potential. For this, after the document check, candidates go through a qualifying as well as final round of interview through which we assess academic capability as well as the student’s drive to keep shining.

Disbursement

Once approved, the funds are paid directly into the college account directly, with no exception.

After

The Mudita College Scholarship is far from a onetime engagement. We constantly monitor progress. We engage students through an online talk-series on various life skills. We talk to them on matters like financial literacy, communication, body language. We also partner with our CSR donors as well as other domain experts to conduct workshops, mentor the students – supporting them with tools that ensure their success in the real world.

Mudita Medical Support Programme

It’s hard to even imagine the pure joy of getting your failing eyesight back.

Or learning that you have defeated a life-threatening cancer. We feel humbled to witness moments like these, first hand, on the daily.
The Mudita Medical Support programme is in two parts:

Cancer Treatment Support: Cancer treatment support is extended to two sets of individuals – adults with young dependents (10 years old or less) and paediatric patients. Once referred to us by social workers at hospitals, their case is reviewed by our consulting panel of doctors. We support the cost of treatment and some diagnostic tests for each patient approved for care.

Eye Care Support: Eye care is one of the most neglected parts of healthcare among children in underprivileged sections and rural communities. Mudita holds eye camps at school level, having screened over 7000 students in Pune so far, in collaboration with Dr Samita Moolani at All For Vision – one of the city’s leading ophthalmologists. Prescriptive glasses are provided to students who need them, free of cost. We also conduct cataract screening costs for the elderly, and provide them with subsidization on their surgery costs.
We also conduct cataract screening costs for the elderly in need, and support their entire surgery cost.

Whether it’s finding the best doctors to treat them, or supporting the patient’s family financially during treatment, Mudita leaves no stone unturned in ensuring those who seek our help are well taken care of.

Mudita Annadaan Programme

The Mudita Annadaan Programme is a monthly food distribution programme, sending dry rations to ensure a balanced nutritional diet for under-reached communities in Pune

We focus on serving the city’s senior citizens, as well as residential centres housing individuals with physical or mental challenges.
Partnering with an NGO called SCHOOL, and their Vriddha Mitra Programme, we work in urban slums to reach vulnerable senior citizens who have no family support and often suffer from physical ailments.
Under the Annadaan Programme, we have also been partnering with organisations like Asha Gram in Satara and Dnyangangotri Residential School for Mentally Disabled in Pune to provide ration support to residential homes for individuals with disabilities.
Since 2024, we’ve been increasingly focused on the personal touch with these senior communities, having organised various activities like laughter club meetings, physiotherapy, movement & dance sessions and more. Anything to help them keep their smile in this late stage of their lives.
